how to get zero responsibility coverage with autoeurope?

after reading such good reviews about autoeurope.. i AGAIN am not quoted by them what car price will be with a "zero responsibility coverage".
one must read fine print, i assume, at airport.

i went through this once in italy, ( this is for bergamo now).. and it is amazing the difference in coverages offered by companies.. or lack of coverage, better said, in rates.

but i recall having read on here from some that they had "zero respn." with autoeurope.
are there "two" similar websites?

Best thing to do is to call them; I've always found the staff at AutoEurope very helpful. BTW, don't forget there's almost never zero responsibility no matter how much you pay; you'll nearly always be stuck with the bill for any damage to tires, windshield, etc. (Except if windshield was previously damaged; we luckily noticed a small chip in the windshield of a van we rented once; when it subsequently developed into a crack, we were able to successfully claim pre-existing damage. Moral of story: check vehicle carefully at time of sign-out).

You might also want to check out your CC coverage. Some CC (e.g., AMEX corporate) offer no-deductible insurance to cardholders provided the cardholder puts the auto rental and all associated rental costs on that card.

Read past posts again. It is a law in Italy that you must purchase CDW (zero responsibility coverage - in your terms, I think). Brokers (like AutoEurope) and car rental agencies (like Hertz) will not let you rent without CDW. That is not the case in France, Germany, Spain, England, etc.

AutoEurope only quotes 1 price for Italy - car with insurance. They quote two prices for other countries - with & without insurance.

check out www.payonarrival.com
you book the car over the net, no deposit or credit card details taken.
You pay the agreed price on arrival with your card...no other costs.
Full comprehensive insurance etc included.
If you damage the car there is a 500 pound excess (for UK). Your travel insurance covers this excess.
This company uses Alamo,eurocar, etc.
I'm using this company for my UK trip.
135 pounds for a Ford Focus or similiar for 5 days. Nothing else to pay, only to make sure I return the car with a full tank.
good luck

It is becoming increasingly difficult to get ZERO deductable. CDW usually has about a 1500-2000 deductable for damage and theft. You can then buy extra insurance locally when you pick up the car (usually aobut US$10 per day) which will reduce that amount, SOMETIMES to zero, sometimes to a few hundred.

Not only do the rules vary among companies, they also vary within the same country and company. I am completely confused by it. I have had best success with Europcar.

I'd suggest talking to Autoeurope and asking them to check out the various options (btw, there are separate deductables for damage and theft gt;( ).

Also, book the car on a credit card that covers CDW as a backup.

Best of luck.

regards Ger

And if you use a credit card with "backup" coverage know whether or not the CC requires your OWN auto insurance to kick in first before anything the CC pays does so also.

i know how to get zero responsibility coverage from certain companies.. ( many dont even offer it).. but for some reason i had thought, in response to this same question in other threads.. autoeurope kept coming up as this great price with full coverage according to some knowledgeable users...??? doesnt look like that to me.

not so. read the fine print EVERYONE before you rent a car from ANYONE.
we sufferd this once in italy already.. and finally at airoprt were able to find a company that would even OFFER total coverage..( none of this tire/windshield, 1400 euro crap).

unless you want to be liable for those things or more or less.. be sure the policy covers you.
one famous place.. even told me it was full coverage.. and i asked before signing.."so.. if smething happens to the car.. i pay NOTHING?" "Oh no. you are liable for a.b.c. and up to 1400 euros". ( this was after adding SUPER CWD!!!!
CWD is practically NOTHING anymore FYI.

fortunately, as i mentioned, asking around another FAMOUS company did offer TOTAL zero responsibility..

my intention here was just to rectify/ or have someone explain how they got this same peace of mind with autoerope.
thanks for all your trouble and suggestions..

Hi all,

I checked www.novarentacar.com. Their site says

"Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - Covers damage to the rented vehicle provided traffic laws have been complied with. There is NO EXCESS LIABILITY (´Deductible´)
Theft Protection Insurance (TLW) - Covers the rented car against theft. There is NO EXCESS LIABILITY (´Deductible´)"

Here's the fine print:

"Exclusions - CDW & TLW do not cover: theft of personal effects or goods from the car; damage to the interior by cigarette burns etc; damage to wheels, windscreens, tyres or vehicle´s underside; damage resulting from use of incorrect fuel; lost keys".

As noted, you gotta shop around.
