How to get to Pont du Gard
Next month I will be traveling around Italy and France for 22 days. I will be traveling by train. While traveling between Montpellier and Lyon I would like to stop to see the Pont du Gard. As there is no train stop close to the pont how do I get there? Anyone familiar with bus service to the pont from Montpellier, Nimes or Avignon regarding time involved etc?
Thanks

Hi Larry,
I would send a fax to the Avignon tourist office 33 490 27 66 83 and ask for bus schedules. I checked beyond.fr bus schedules but there wasn't a clear answer there - only a reference to the closest town being 3km from the PduG. If you want to take a look I think it's page 4 that gives a reference to Pont du Gard.
Alternatively, pick up a copy of Let's Go France or Provence. They give good information for people who take public transporation and you will probably get your answer here.

Thanks for all replies.
Cigalechanta- Your information was enough to lead me to some research on Google that gave me all I need. I will easily be able to spend a half day at the pont enroute to Lyon. Thanks.
