How to find a driver for Shannon-Clifden?

I’m trying to plan a 2-weeks vacation to Ireland for next August, and the 1st day seems to be the hardest fro me to figure out. We would like to get to Clifden that day, but the amount of driving is more than we would like to attempt.

Can anyone recommend a driver for the Shannon – Clifden portion? Or a site/agency that can facilitate hiring one?
Thanks a lot

I stayed in Clifden at Mal Dua guesthouse and the owner came down and picked us up in Shannon and took us to Clifden at no charge. We did have rooms for seven nights. Google the Clifden web site and see if there is a list of taxi's. I used Joyce's while there, but don't have his number. Also, go to the Shannon airport web site and look for transportation. Good luck.

Have you considered BusEireann? They are next to the car rental counter at Shannon airport: They can sell you tix and route you (via Ennis & Galway). Buses have large luggage compartments below the pax seating, and very small overhead racks. If you don't tarry too long in Galway (where you'll probably have to change buses), you could be in Clifden by noon.

As for: 'a driver for Shannon-Clifden,' that tells me you just want a driver for your rental car that morning. Ask around at Shannon airport - there may be such a service; but I don't know of one.

Shannon to Clifden isn't that bad a drive at all. I can't remember exactly, but maybe 2-3 hours, and you certainly can take your time. The only difficult part is the roundabouts around Galway, but after that it's a straight shot down the N59. And they've improved that road quite a bit in the past couple years. We did it two times after flying overnight.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Chatham,
Mal Dua is one of the places on our list, so we’ll see how that works out. I’ll definitely Google the Clifden’s taxis.

Ned,
No, I was not thinking about buses, but that sounds like a very good idea, too.
You are right, I’m looking for either a driver for our rental, or a driver with his/her own car and in this case, we would rent from Clifden.

Holldoll,
I know it’s only about 3 hrs drive, and it’s not the length that worries me, but the fact that we will both be zombies after the overnight flight. And that, combined with driving on the left hand side (for the first time) and the roundabouts, I’d rather have someone else do the driving
