How to book one-way flights online?

That pretty much sums it up. How can I book a flight on Kyak/Orbitz etc. that goes LAX/NYC -stay for a few days- NYC/FLR (Florence Italy- stay a few weeks and than FLR/LAX? I can't figure it out and have spent too much time on hold. Any hints?

That really isn't one-way - it's open jaw. Click on multi-city instead of one-way, and enter your dates and cities.

Technically that isn't an open jaw, you are flying round trip between LAX and FLR with a stopover in NYC. That's going to be tricky with most airlines, and one of the things I love about my FF award travel which does let me do that.
Nevertheless, you should be able to price it or book it online with most websites by using the multi-city function as kybourbon suggests. You can do that on most airline websites, but not sure about Orbitz.

Actually it is not an open jaw, it is multi city. In could also be set up as a round trip with a stopover in NYC, if the fare class permits stopover en route. To book online you would need to use the multicity option but it may be worth checking out possible itineraries on http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/ or another similar site and call the airline if you can't make it work online.

Calamari,
Try posting this on the Europe site you will probably get better responses.
However, I will be leaving from Chgo in two weeks. I'm staying four days in London and two weeks in Paris. I will fly from Chgo to London, London to Paris and Paris back to Chicago. I booked through American Airlines, but I'm flying British Airways. Go to American's website and chose multi-city. At the end check American their Connections and One World.

In addition, it appears that you could get a better rate if you fly from NYC to London and take the train to Florence and fly back home from Rome. I came up with airfare of 712.00 which includes tax.

Good Luck

Hi Calamari,

Go to www.kayak.com

Click "Multi City"

For October, they want about $1200 and up.
For April, about the same.
