How soon before trip should I re-confirm?

I've seen some folks here suggest that if you plan a vacation far in advance (in my case, six months), you should reconfirm all hotel reservations again.

When is too soon? We are departing October 16th for Paris/Italy. Should I reconfirm hotels now, or wait until mid-September?

Thanks all! I really appreciate your experience and knowledge!

hi, sarge,

If you've booked so far in advance, I agree that it's agood idea to do this.

I usually wrap it up in an enquiry about parking, or telling them what time to expect us - something to elicit a response, anyhow, just to make sure they're still in business and remember our existence.

I'd do it about 2-3 weeks in advance.

regards, ann

I do four weeks in advance cause I want time to correct the error if need be. I send them their confirmation but I like Ann's idea of asking a question.

I do 2-4 weeks out, whenever I get time or think about it. I just sent my emails this week for Sept 19 departure.

I would wait until mid-September, so you're about one month, or less, out.

Yes I allow 4 weeks. Don't forget to take printouts of your email with the hotel.
