I'm looking at a flight on AA from CDG-LAX. Layover options are JFK with no terminal change, or BOS, DFW options with terminal changes. Is 1 1/2 hours enough of a buffer (using carry-ons only), or should I allow at least 2 hours?

That is not a layover. That is transit.

I would allow 2 hours if given a choice in the U.S., just because so many flights are late in the big cities.

i prefer "easy" but cheapest connections as long as it is all on one ticket, where you are protected if flight is missed.

if the airlines authorizes it, and you won´t be TOO horribly put out (if no more flights that evening, or missing an event) i would go with the best/easiest connection.

Yes. Usually, you will have to go through passport control and Customs.

Good point, Ira, I hadn't thought of that. Regardless, it's a very long daay on the flight back.
