How much do things cost in India?
I realize I'm in the wrong area of the world, but I'm getting no response in the Asia area, and have witnessed the helpfulness of the Europe area, so here I go. How many rupees are average, everyday items? Loaf of bread, lunch at a regular cafe, cup of coffee, etc. Thank you!

Well, a loaf of bread, bought at any grocery shop or local bakery would not cost more than about [email protected]. Tea or coffee, it depends on where you plan to have it, but even in 5 star kind of restaurants, a cup of coffee should not be more than 1-1.5 USD a cup. Lunch in a decent restaurant, should be about US$5-6 per person. Which cities are you visiting. If you are vivsiting big cities like Delhi, Bombay etc., apart form restaruants, there are also good clean fast food places /chains like Nirula's (DElhi),Croissants etc. in Bombay, and then there is McDonalds, KFC, even TGIF... Let me know if you need more help. I have been out of there since the past 7 years but visit often.Have fun. Indian food is delicious. Be careful about water.

Forgot to mention, that if you like shopping, India is one of the greatest places on earth to shop. Having travelled the world over the past few years, India is still on top of my list for silver ware, gold and precious stones, silks, hand-embroderies, pashmina shawls, carpets, hand woven fabrics and other hand crafted glass, wood and brass items. Holler if you need help.
