We will arrive in Paris April 30th for 5 nights and leave from Amsterdam after a week in Haarlem and environs. In between we are staying a couple of nights in Bruges and another 2 nights in Antwerp. Already have reservations in Haarlem at Stempels Hotel and plan a day biking trip to see the bloomin' blooms and day trips to Delft and maybe Utrecht.

For Paris, old sentimental me (its our 40th anniversary) planned to go back to our "honeymoon hotel" the du Danube. Since our Parisian honeymoon I have been back to the du Danube several times with the kids but this will be DW's, aka Mi Chica, first time back to Paris and she wants to try something different. So, I am looking at perhaps an apartment or some other hotel just to see what it feels like to live on a different street.

Regarding the best guide book for Paris made earlier: I find the DK Eyewitness Travel book absolutely fantastic. It is not cheap ($25US or C$30), but it is well worth the money. It is ISBN 978-0-7566-1547-5 if you are interested.

It's been months since i've been on the forum, but i'm back!! Everyone here is so helpful.

CanadaV I am from the Cobourg area now, was from Whitby Ontario. Good luck with the trip planning. We are leaving in May and still have to organize the Paris end of things. I've never been, so I really have to do a major research as we will only be ther fo about 2 - 3 days max...

Anselm...Thanks for your stamp of approval on Uzes, the Auvergne, and Paris. We are renting an apt through www.vrbo.com for 8 days. We wanted to get there on a Friday, so we can enjoy and manage market day on Sat. which is amazing. I was there in Sept. 02, with sisters and mother, so that now helps with the lay of the land.

Almcd,
Thanks for the heads up on the DK Paris guide...I had one for Great Britain and it was good.

All you Fodorites are THE BEST. Thanks for all your helpful advise. The planning is half the fun, and for just a moment in time...you are already there!!

Hope to spend at least a week in Paris in January/February boning up on my French.

We've decided to go back to the South of France again in June 2008 -- near Valbonne.

So do I need to start working on a fall trip?

I'm planning a trip to France for Dec 2008 - it's the end of high school in Sydney Australia for 3 families who met in prenatal class. It will just on 18 years since we met. We have 11 people so need to start planning now.

The plan is Xmas in Paris and NYE in Samoens in the French Alps.

Not planning for 2008, but have been planning for 2007. I had the idea back in May, so it's only been three months of planning. Everything is booked and paid for and we are very excited! It will be our children's first trip to Europe.

Will find myself in Paris yet again in February of 2008. Sylvie Vartan is performing in concert. Never have seen her live, I'm looking forward to it!

My ski club is running a trip to Chamonix in Feb 2008. My DH & I don't want to go b/c the skiing in Europe has been so poor the past several years.

However, we have decided to go to Paris & meet up with the club on their 5 day Paris extension!

This was very spur of the moment & we were able to get airfare & hotel for less than $900/pp!

Our family of 15 will be going to Paris, Provence and the Cote d'Azur next June. We will stay in a hotel in Paris, villa for the rest. Five of us have visited France multiple times, but it will be new to the other 10, (all Italy lovers.) It's time for them to spread their wings; we hope they'll see how awesome too France is too!

We have booked a Paris apartment, on Blvd. Sebastopol for five nights starting April 1st, then on to Lut & Bruno's B&B in Bruges for 2 nights, Monique Vermeile's B&B in Antwerp for 2 nights and then 6 nights in Haarlem with side trips to Delft, bicycling out to see the boomin' blooms, and anywhere else that moves us - Amsterdam of course. Any comments/suggestions on this itenerary would be appreciated as always.

Hi, my wife and I are planning for Paris in either May or Sept. Still undecided about the kids (ages 3 and 4), but we are psyched. I've actually been planning this trip since last year...I read the Guide and have been lurking on the boards. Paris is my dream, we are almost there. ~DJ

I've just made up my mind - Paris in May is what I'm planning followed by Scotland in ealy June ( a kind of a round trip).
DJ Pulse - if you are there in May let's do a Fodors GTG at a very nice little Bistro?

In June we used FF miles for our May 2008 Paris trip. Booked same apt as last year and am starting my dining research as we speak!
