You'll have to do the work yourself, Melissa, but here's how you can calculate it tonight.

1) Go to www.mapblast.com
2) Ask it to create a map of Rome, Italy. When it does so it will also display the latitude and longitude.
3) Ask it to create a map for Dallas. Again, you'll find the latitude and longitude.
4) Got to
http://www.stormsurf.com/page2/papers/Java/Swivel.shtml
or
http://www.mercury.demon.co.uk/dist/dodist.html

and use them to calculate the great circle distance between those two points of lattitude/longitude

TWENJ
Go to http://www.mappy.com and plug in Dallas, TX, and Rome, Italy, and perhaps you'll get the answer. Barring that, get out an atlas or an encyclopaedia and figure it out in stages. Probably aruond 5,000 miles - that's just a guess.
