Well for new travelers it would be kind of hard for them to 'reply' to questions. In fact I wouldn't want them to, as they would be guessing or passing on hearsay rather than actual experience or knowledge.
It is frustrating when they don't come back or acknowledge people are trying to help them but I figure the information may very well help someone else who is searching for similar info either now or sometime in the future.
So I'll answer the original question
Krakow - two full days for the city itself plus a day each for Auschwitz and the Salt Mine
Budapest - I easily filled up a whole week with only one day trip, but I think you could have a nice visit with 3-4 days
Saltzburg - one or two max
I have not been to Berlin
Zermatt - the town itself - about an hour. Hiking up or taking the train to see the Matterhorn takes several hours (depending on how long you want to spend up there, how much hiking you want to do, etc.). The problem is the clouds - if you only have one day you may very well not see the Matterhorn at all so the more days you have the more you increase your liklihood of seeing it.

Yes for the city but it also has lots of neat day trips - like to the fabulous Lake District - the so-called Sound of Music country where much of the famous flick was filmed - you can without a car take postal buses there in about an hour from Salzburg - say to St Gilgen - boat across the lake to St Wolfgang - maybe take the steam train up the mountain there, etc - a great but full day trip.

Isabel, where do you live? Could you as a new poster not answer questions about your home area or questions about things where your general knowledge of living in a country mean you would know the answers? There is no one who could not answer some questions.

The point is that even someone who has never travelled outside of their home town can answer questions adrienne, it doesn't matter if someone is new to travel or not.
If I ask someone, 'are shops normally open on Wednesday?', can they not tell me the answer for their home town or for their whole country?
