Can anyone tell me how many bottles of wine is one allowed to bring back after a trip to France?

If the answer is the United States, it depends a great deal on the state. While I would agree in theory that Rex is right, we are subject (assuming you are coming "back" to the states, to a $400 duty free limit. Depending on the quality of wine you are bringing back and how many other items you purchase, you could exceed that with 24 bottles. Just a thought to keep in mind that if customs checks your baggage and you do exceed the free amount, you may have to pay whatever the duty is.

You are allowed two bottles duty free. The next step has to do with Port of Entry state laws. So you will need to see how many bottles your state allows my state (Texas) allows two gallons of wine.

Thank you and sorry for not spelling it out. I will be bringing them back to California. I know that if I am bringing back alcohol from Mexico...I can bring back 2 bottles per adult (21+) would it be the same from France?
