"How Far" Website

Need sites for looking up the distance or mileage between places. Would prefer those that understand, not just a city name, but also a special site: Volcano, Canyon, Mtn, etc.

Kay

Where you going, from where to where? I have a world map system on my computer that allows me to measure distances between places. Let me know and I'll tell you quickly.

Liz, I general use Indo.com but this time it hasn't worked, any others.

Measure, I'm going from La Fortuna to the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica. Then Arenal to Flamingo Beach. Then Flamingo to San Jose. I would prefer the mlleage by road as oppose to air. Thanks.

Kay

That's as a bird flies. It looks like Arenal to San Jose by road is 174 Km. or about 108 miles on the road. Figure Arenal to Flamingo to be about 80 - 90 miles on the road. If I can find better info I'll post it.

Measure,
I had previously been on Arenal.net and read that the volcano was 3.5 hrs from San Jose. That's why I was curious what the mileage was. I've read that it is extremely slow going as doing 108 miles in 3.5 miles would suggest. Thanks again.

When planning your itinerary in CR, you should take the travel time provided by locals (or guide books) and multiply by 1.5 or 2. CR is beautiful, but it is slow going...even the highways are 2 lane, narrow, and fairly slow if you are unfamiliar with the terrain. The rest of the road system barely qualifies as roads at all!

However, it is part of the beauty and adventure of CR. If they had 8 lane superhighways it would be just like home, but with bigger lizards
