How early do the Vaporettos start running??
How early do the vaporettos start running in Venice? There�s a 6:50am boat from San Marco and arrives at the airport at 8:00am. My flight out is at 10:10am. My hotel is near the Rialto stop. I tried using the actv.it web site, but I must be doing something wrong!<BR><BR>Thanks in advance!<BR><BR>Monica<BR>[email protected]<B R>

Well I've been trying to help both of you for the last xx*&# minutes and I can't navigate the actv website either! Monica, I don't think you'll have a problem because 10:10 isn't that early. You might want to consider the land bus that leaves from P. de Roma near the train station. It's not as romantic as the boat ride but it's a lot faster (20 minutes vs at least an hour from San Marco) and cheaper (3e/person vs 10e for the alilaguna).<BR><BR>Here's a timetable for the morning<BR> Frequency daily<BR>Journey time 20' <BR> Bus departures from Venice (P.le Roma) to Marco Polo Airport <BR> 05.00 05.50 06.50 07.50 08.55 09:20 <BR><BR>Gary, don't know where you're starting from. You could also take this bus and arrive at the airport at 5:20 with the first bus. You might have to take a water taxi to the bus stop though (cheaper than going all the way by bus) but at that hour, I think you ought to treat yourself!

Hello, I am also wondering what time we should leave our apartment near the Salute Vaporetto stop to get to an Easyjet flight that leaves at 11:00AM.<BR><BR>How much time should we allow to get to the airport? Do we need to be at Marco Polo airport 2 hours before our flight to London? <BR><BR>Thank you for your help! Laurie

it looks as though the closest stop for the Antico Fiore Hotel we are staying is the San Angelo stop. I kinda think at that time of morning I will need more pampering and will have to have a private boat that can probally get me there the quickest while offering some comfort as well. I am NOT a morning person at all. I should have checked my flights a little closer although Delta moved me 30 minutes earlier than the original booking..

We have taken tne Alilaguna motor launch to catch a plane leaving at 7 am. You can check the schedule at the stand not far from the San Marco vaporetto stop.<BR>It worked fine- we left around 5am and arrived at the airport a little before 6am. Much less expensive than a water taxi and a way to leave with a pleasant boat ride and beautiful scenery.

Hi Sally, <BR><BR>Yes, I know that I have to take the vaporetto from the Rialto to San Marco in order to take the Alilunga to the airport. However, the vaporetto web site (www.actv.it) does not come up with any early a.m. times for the Rialto to San Marco ride.<BR><BR>So my question is how early does the Vaporetto run??<BR><BR>Thanks!

mclaurie,<BR><BR>Just re-read your posting. I think my problem is that the vaporetto may not begin their day early enough to me to get to either San Marco or the P. de Roma for the bus.<BR><BR>

Hi all<BR><BR> The ACTV site lists the first Vaporetto from Rialto to San Marco starting at 07:02, *but* you have to change buses and that one doesn't start until 08:03, so you get to San Marco at 09:06.<BR><BR> Bus service from Rialto to Pzza Le Roma begins at 05:15.

Just a quick note, I was in Venice over the new year and had to get to the P. Roma by about 7am to catch a bus. <BR><BR>There was flooding around which certainly affected the Vaparetto timetables, but at that time there were no vaparettos whatsoever. We had to walk from Accademia to P. Roma in the dark, dodging the puddles...! Made it with about five minutes to spare.<BR><BR>Good luck with your searching, but don't rely on the timetables 100%, especially if the water rises while you're there!!! I'd plan your route on foot to get to the P. Roma and get the bus just to be safe...!!

I think the problem is that the numerous landing stages near San Marco have different names. As far as I can see from the ACTV web site, the first boat on line 1 leaves Rialto at 0520 in the direction of San Marco. Some of the boats run all night, but it's easier to research this in Venezia. It only takes ten minutes to walk from Rialto to San Marco, if there isn't a boat at the right time.

From Rialto to Piazzale Rome, the boats certainly run through the night on Line N. From Rialto to San Marco, the night service stops at Vallaresso which is close to San Marco: after Line N stops running, the first boat on Line 1 is at 0520. On the ACTV web site, try "ricerca linea" and enter line "N" or line "1". It's much easier to check details on the spot. Venezia has a wonderful public transport system and you really don't need to lose any sleep worrying about it before you get there.
