Or take a taxi or RER to Paris then TGV to Lyon. There are TGVs from Paris starting 6:58am.

Yeah, from Paris Gare de Lyon to Dijon.

The last time I went to Dijon, I took an airport bus to Paris and took a train from there to Dijon.

From where are you arriving, Teresa? If you are arriving from the Western Hemisphere, 8:21 is cutting it close but still possible. Of course if you are buying your ticket at the walk-up rate upon arrival, it doesn't matter.
