How close is Cinque Terre to Pisa?

Looking to go to Cinque Terre when we fly into Pisa and was wondering the best way to go, how far it is and how long it will take. Also appreciate Cinque Terre and Pisa lodging recommendations.

Trains are a good way to travel in Italy and I believe LaSpezia is the closest destination south and Levanto north of the Cinque Terre. Use the www.fs-on-line.com site and put in your departure and arrival towns. It will give you schedules and times so you can see how long it would take. Marilyn

If you choose the train, a good choice by the way, you go from Pisa to La Spezia Centrale. From there you can catch a local that serves all 5 towns, starting with Riomaggiore.

From Pisa central station to Manarola, Corniglia and Vernazza there are 8 train frequencies between 10am and 5pm. Travel time varies from 1:30 to 2 hours depending on departure time. A change in La Spezzia is called for in all cases.

If your destination in the CT is either Riomaggiore or Monterosso, on top of the above, there direct trains (no change in La Spezia) leaving Pisa every 2 hours or so, with travel time of 1:10 hours to Riomaggiore and some 8 minutes more to Monterosso.

The train journey from the airport to the central station is very small (5/6 minuytes). But there are trains only every 2 hours or so. Therefore, depending on landing time, a taxi would be a better option if minimizing the total time from the aiport to the CT is your goal.

Paulo
