How are the Forums for you today?

We took the site down briefly last night as a part of an effort to fix some of the issues that have cropped up here, especially in the last week or so.

I wanted to check in this morning to see if you were having an easier time clicking around and pulling up your threads.

Thanks for your patience!

It's about the same. Sometimes the left threads come up quickly but once this morning I waited several minutes for them to refresh. The problems have not been any worse in the last week than they have been for several months.

When I first opened the Europe forum this morning, it kept showing the Caribbean posts. I kept clicking on other forums to find the Europe one and eventually it popped up.

Now everything seems fine.

Today Aug 19th 12.35pm :

1. Clicking on a particular Forum brings up that forum's posting, and quickly.

2. Pulling up all posts that I've responded to (by clicking on my username up top) brings up the threads quickly.

Yesterday and during the past 4 days :

1. I'd click on the Canada forum and I'd be sent to the Lounge - after about a 3 minute wait, sometimes never.

2. Pulling up my posting would take several minutes, if at all, otherwise just remain frozen.

Mac OS 10.4

Earlier this morning (8-ish) I had no trouble with Safari.

This time the site did not show the list of threads and my login had disappeared.

I switched to Firefox, the site came up fine and my login is in sight.

Final analysis .. hit or miss?

Still not operating properly, but a little better than it was on previous days.

Please note that when Lonely Planet changed their server last November, theoretically because it was saturated, so many of us were outraged by the result (which is still crap, 10 months later) that we were obliged to create a totally new forum. It has almost 1000 registered users and even though only about 100 are really active, we like it there and would not go back to LP.

I'm sure that Fodorites could figure out how to do the same thing, so please do not screw up your services to provoke this.

Partly better, but problem - thread list not loading - still prevalent now and then (twice in the last two hours).

Earlier today when I clicked on the Europe forum, it was bringing up the Asia forum. Things are much better now though.

It was much better and then it got worse. When I clicked on a thread it would not open at all, in Europe or Latin America. The thread was highlighted but nothing happened.

After I posted my earlier message, I could not get back into the Forum without leaving Fodors.I had to go to another webiste and then return to be able to read the Forum's threads. So, its still very frustrating.

Extremely slow, sometimes just freezes, can't pull up threads by clicking on a name.

Not great. Sometimes I have to click on a forum several times to get the threads to appear, and when I want to move to the next 50 threads, nothing happens.

Started off well and then reverted to being extremely slow and in some cases refusing to bring up posts at all.

It was okay for a while earlier today but now I have the same problem as the posters right above me.
