Hotels on Italy roads
I have never been to Italy and I will be traveling in late May from Zermat, Switzerland to Pisa, Italy. However, I am not certain where we will be for the night. How realistic is it to find a budget motel (less than 100euro) somewhere along the way? Or should we lock ourselves into a reservation somewhere and hope we will reach that place that night? Any hints or suggestions would be welcomed.

You will make it easily in one day if you want to. If not, I assume the route will be Brig, Domodossala, Stresa, Genoa---I would stop in Rapallo and have dinner in Portofino. Be sure to run the viamichelin program for your route and timing.

Bobthenavigator: Thanks for the tip. How about my original question? Can I find a cheap place to sleep on the go? Or do I need to reserve ahead of time? (I am used to travel in the USA where you can find hotels along any highway. Not sure how it is in Italy)
