Early flight out of Prague: where to stay
I had a moment of temporary insanity and booked a flight that leaves at 7am on a Monday.
I have Saturday and Sunday in Prague solo. Prior to that I am staying in Josefov in an apartment with a friend. I can extend the apartment stay, but I also thought it might be nice to stay in a hotel for the weekend in a different area, maybe someplace a little out of the tourist crush.
Any recommendations for an area? And should I think about proximity to the airport? This will be my first visit to Prague.
Thanks in advance for your advice and ideas.

If *I* had a 7AM flight, I'd want to be as close to the airport as possible.
There is a Ramada , Courtyard (http://www.marriott.de/hotels/travel...rague-airport/), Holiday Inn (http://www.hipragueairport.com/), and a Fba (http://www.fba.cz/) at the airport.

I stay in the Hotel Dap when I am in Parague (was there last week)It is about a 20 minute taxi ride to the Airport and the airport buses area only 100 yards or so from the hotel but doubt they would be early enough for you.
The Dap is in the Dejvicka area of the city, lots of bars and resturants aroiund the area and the castle can be walked to in about 10-15 minutes though at the moment there are loads of roadworks on that route.

I do not know if or how the floods have affected Kampa Island, but if all is OK I would consider staying at the Hotel Kampa Garden - a high end budget hotel. The Island, while right in the middle of things is an oasis of quiet. As unclegus said, the airport is only a 20 minute taxi ride away and the hotel will make the arrangements if you like. At 20 minutes, there is no need to stay out at the airport.

To close the loop, I ended up staying in Mala Strana at the Vintage Design Hotel Sax. Since it was my last few nights of holiday, I splurged on the top room category, so I had a nice big room on the top floor with great views over Prague. It was an easy and quick taxi ride to the airport (used AAA, reserved online the night before). I was also able to enjoy a nice run up and around Petrin Park one morning.
