Look above in this list for similar question on Venice and find my comments on the Al Gambero. Reasonable, clean and good location.

Nancy, there have been dozens of great suggestions on this board, for Venice hotels. You may want to try the search function, by entering "Venice hotels". Also, try looking at www.venere.it for great hotels in many price ranges. I've been to Venice once and stayed at the Locando Leon Bianco. It's on the Grand Canal and was very reasonable. You'll find more info about it when you do your search.

Try the Hotel Flora- just off St.Marks Sq-rooms are very Venetian with Murano Chandeliers, handpainted furniture-small but very pretty and hotel was very reasonably priced--part of the Ciga Hotel Chain

The Locanda Sturion is very nice and in great location right by Rialto Bridge. Great rooms and right on Grand Canal. Only down side is no lift and as hotel is on upper floor of building there is a long climb up stairs to the lobby and rooms, but worth the effort. Very nice hotel. Good breakfast service, and location can not be beat. <BR> <BR>Their web site is http://www.sayville.com/locanda-sturion.html

You haven't mentioned a budget, so I'm going to recommend the Londra Palace. It's a beautiful hotel with a wonderful restaurant (Do Leoni), and the views cross the lagoon the San Giorgio are gorgeous. <BR> <BR>http://www.hotelondra.it/

I also recommend the Flora. It's minutes from San Marco but far enough removed to be away from the crowds and very quiet and peaceful. It's full of charm and I loved the garden area. I have heard some rooms may be small, we were in a quad so we literally had the largest room in the place. You can email them and ask about the size of available rooms and rates ([email protected])

We stayed at the Ramada in Venice. The hotel accomodations were good. The <BR>staff was less than helpful. in fact theyw ere down right rude. I contacted <BR>Ramada Corporate Headquarters. I got a response but they wanted me to handle it with the hotel in Venice. Contacting corporate headquartes should have been sufficient.

Hi, <BR> Last year we stayed 5 nights at The Hotel Giorgiorne email([email protected])We are booked there again this Oct. The rate is 484.000 per night for a nice sized double. We found this to be a first class hotel located in the Cannarego district - it is a nice walk to the San Marco - but closer to the ferries for Murano.

Another vote for Locanda Sturion. Wonderful staff, terrific location & a great value for the money. Whether you want a single or a quad, they can accomodate you. <BR>Buon Viaggio, <BR>BC

In August, we stayed at the Hotel American in the Dorsodura section, just a short walk from the Accademia bridge. Loved it. Near all the major sites, but in a quieter area on a side canal. Still, you can see the Grand Canal, which is quite close. It is either a three or four star. Spotless, & good breakfasts included.

Dear Nancy, I stayed in Venice for two weeks in June. I stayed in the Hotel Bisanzio. It is on th e street of the Pieta. ..a short block in from the "Grand Canal" The staff is fabulous! They speak English.and are VERY accomadating. I was there wqith my 9 year olld granddaughter. It is a Best Western...but those Hotels are great in EUROPE!..IT is like staying in a "Family operated" Hotel. it is two bridges away from St. Mark's Square. <BR>If you go to "In Italy.com..I think that is where you can find passes to the museums. I got them online for Florence the year before! Venice questions ?email me. Nancy
