These are the hotels I'm looking at in Siena.
http://www.venere.it/siena/athena/ http://www.emmeti.it/Arte/Toscana/Pr.../index.uk.html
http://www.emmeti.it/Arte/Toscana/Pr...a/index.uk.htm

I've heard good comments about the Pensione Palazzo Ravizza on this forum.

Hello!
One trip we stayed at Alma Domus, a hotel run by nuns close to the bus station. It was perfectly clean, very secure, quiet and fairly cheap. The nuns don't speak English and are a little crusty but we really liked the place. You don't have to be Catholic!

I, too stayed at Alma Domus about a year ago, and it's one of my fondest memories from that trip! My room had only a sink (bathroom down the hall), but was otherwise lovely, with a charming painted iron bed and an incredible view onto the Duomo and the terraced gardens along the hillside below. Opening the wooden shutters in the morning, I could hardly believe my good fortune. And all for about $40 U.S./night!

A couple of caveats: my friends across the hall had a full bath, but a "view" onto a brick wall. There is a curfew - 11 or 11:30 (which we almost missed because we were lingering over the last of our wine!)

Barbara:
My husband and I stayed in the Palazzo
Ravizza in fall of '98. It was approx 75/night then, but may be less now as the exchange rate is better. The outside tetrace/garden is wonderful and so is the hotel itself. Ask for a room
on the upper floor on backside of hotel for a great view. The Ravizza is located inside the town itself and is a
short walk to shops, restaurants, etc. if
you wish to be in that location. Our room was nice sized, furnished attractively and had a nice bathroom. We also enjoyed eating dinner in their very good dining room, and, if I remember correctly, the meals were reas-
onably priced. You cannot go wrong with this place if it fits within your budget!!
