Hotels In Sicily

My daughter and I will be in Sicily for 3-4 days in early May. Our first visit(she currently studies in Rome). Looking for nice hotels and what cities to stay in and how long. Thanks for any suggestions, greatly appreciated!

Hotel Torre Artale in Trabia,a town between Palermo and Cefalu. It's a very beautiful and charming 3* hotel (www.torreartale.com). As the hotel is not in the center of town, you can better rent a car while you're staying here. I know there are also very nice hotels in Cefalu and Toarmina, but I fell in love with Torre Artale!

We were in Sicily for 5 days a few years ago and decided to stay in one fabulous place, Taormina, and make day trips to sights, rather than check in and out of hotels. This worked quite well because it allowed us to truly savor Taormina, considered by many to be the nicest spot in Sicily. We made one day trip to fascinating ruins in Siracusa (2-hr. drive), and another to even better ruins in Agrigento (2.5-3hr. drive); there are also day tours to these places. We deliberately skipped Palermo, and from reports that I've heard, I'm not sorry, given the amount of time we had. We stayed at the San Domenico in Taormina, which was extremely nice, and has a wonderful pool (great for relaxing at the end of the day). But if I were going in May, which might not be swimming weather, I'd stay at the Grand Hotel Timeo, which does not have a pool, but the accommodations seem a bit "fresher." Enjoy!

i suggest to you, as your stay is only 3-4 days, Palermo. The city is full of masterpieces from Norman age to Liberty style. There are many hotels, but I suggest something in city centre: car jamming will drive you crazy!!! You can find out something in www.mediterraneo.it
