Hotels in Paris - Questions on several
My wife and I are planning a trip for August. There are several hotels being contemplated:
1 - Hotel Bergere Opera
2. Hotel Lindbergh
3. Hotel Minerva
4. Timhotel St. Georges
5. Timhotel Italie

We are on a tight budget so any information on these hotels would be appreciated. Also, the Ibus chain was mentioned to us - anyone familiar with these hotels and the accomodations?
Thank you.

Hi Dave,
not to add to your difficult decision but we had a very good stay about a year ago at Grands Ecoles for a reasonable price (around $100). It might be worth your time to look at the Rants and Raves about this hotel-I noticed they were all positive.

We had an excellent stay at the Minerve in May of this year. Most of the negative comments on this forum seem to be from one person, while several have said good things. I recommend it! Great location, helpful staff, safe area. Rooms are average for Paris, modern bathrooms with wall mounted showers. Our room had a balcony overlooking the street with a small table and two chairs.

Minerve was great. However, there is no air conditioning and I have never been to Paris in August. It is located in the 5th- 10 minute walk rom Notre Dame.
Near three metro lines. Good Luck.

PS Many hotels lack air conditioning
in Paris.

Dave:

You might consider the Hôtel Résidence Monge, located about 1/2 mile south of Notre Dame. Two metro's near by. I stayed there the last two years. Rooms are clean and I found Julie at the desk most helpful. Rates are $60 to $90 for a double. More information and pictures are at: http://www.parishotels.com/
Hotel is in St. Germain area. Hôtel Résidence Monge, 55 rue Monge, 75005 Paris Tel. 01 43 26 87 90 Fax 01 43 54 47 25 I would recommend calling Julie first to see if they have a vacancy and then fax her your request with credit card information. Print out form at web sit, but fax it directly to hotel.
If any questions, e-mail me.

Bon Voyage,

Randy

Hi:

I visited Paris and stayed at a great little budget hotel called Hotel du Terrage on Rue Du Terrage just 2 blocks from Gare de L'est (a giant train station that is a major expressway for the Metro as well). Check out a map of Paris and although Gare de L'est seems far I could get from L'arc de Triomphe to Gare de L'est in 15 minutes I kid you not. The best thing: $40.00 a night Canadian so if you're American go for it. You wont' find a better deal and the neighbourhood is cute enough (still in 'old' Paris) and think of the money you can spend on other things. Each room has it's own bathroom and there is daily maid service. The front doors lock at 11:00 p.m. but there are staff there around the clock (they sleep over) and there's a laundromat next door!!!

Enjoy.
