Hotels in Cernobbio

Hello

I was wondering if anyone had a hotel they could recommend in Cernobbio.

Terzo Crotto, recommended by nochblad, is full. Regina Olga is only free one of the nights we need, and while it gets overall decent reviews, the few bad ones make me think I should keep looking. I haven't heard back from Miralago - probably on vacation or closed for the winter. That isn't high on our list either, to be honest.

The main reason we are thinking of Cernobbio for two nights is because we leave from Malpensa on Monday morning and would like a head start, also, two nights so that we can actually see a little bit of Cernobbio and Como. We have never visited Cernobbio and our time in Como has been very short.

The other three nights will be in Lenno.

I suppose there is always the Villa d'Este!

I can't speak for the Miralago hotel as a hotel, but the restaurant was great when we ate lunch there 3 months ago.

It's a full 1 hour ride from Cernobbio to Malpensa. There'll be lots of traffic on a Monday morning unless you are leaving very very early.

Oh boy. Well, I don't want to spend our last night in the middle of nowhere just to catch a flight.

Our flight is at 950 AM, so we should arrive at 750 AM.

I figured we would leave Cernobbio with a car service at 630 AM just to be on the safe side. I'm not sure if they allow check in online the night before, or not. That would help immensely although we would still have to check a bag each.

I agree with you and there tave been lots of discussions about this very topic here on the forum. Where can one stay near Malpensa which isn't a hole in the wall? I have used Arona (on Lake Maggiore), which is about a 20 minute drive, and I am looking into Varese which is about a 30 minute drive.

If you are leaving with a professional driving service from the Como area at 630 AM, I think you should be alright. If you were driving by yourselves and returning a rented car, I would add an hour. I would ask the driving service for their recommendation.

Thanks Steve.

I emailed Sergio at Terzo Crotto to clarify that the last night was more important than two nights, and he is actually free so we are good with the very last night.

That still leaves Saturday open, and I emailed Albergo Lenno to see if we could stay one extra night. I imagine it will work out, it's still almost four months off. If not, it will mean finding another hotel for Sat night (probably in Cernobbio). I'm optimistic though.

Leaving the hotel at 630 AM is early but not dreadful. The other flight options were 9 AM, and I think there was one a lot later (1 PM?) but that one got us home kind of late due to connections. The evening I get home from an international trip I like to have at least a few hours to decompress before going to bed. This is because I will be awake and decompressing for a few hours ANYWAY, and I hate going to sleep at 1 AM only to get up a few hours later!

I know where you are going with this!

Alas, we are flying directly to the US, not making a connection in Europe. If we were, I suppose two full hours wouldn't be necessary though to be honest I wouldn't be comfortable with less than 1.5. You still have to go through security.

The good news is that I no longer am seeking a room.

Albergo Lenno emailed me this morning and we have the extra night there. Terzo Crotto for the very last night. We will have to hustle to fit in all we'd like to see in Cernobbio/Como on just Sunday, instead of Sat and Sun. Luckily we've spent a little time in Como proper before.
