Hotels in Brugge - need advice

I'm a female who will be traveling alone to Brugge in July and wanted to get some recommendations for hotels. Would like something nice but not too pricey. Thanks! <BR> <BR>Lisa

I stayed at the passage hotel a few years ago. I don't know what your budget is but this is fairly very inexpesive hotel and you get what you pay for. the rooms are clean but small and bare with a private bath. they have a restaurant and I think dinner was included and it was great. I recommend the ribs if you stay. staff was very nice too.

My wife and I stayed three nights last September at the Hotel Jacobs. Excellent front desk service, quick response to e-mail reservation request, fine buffet breakfast, spotless clean, five-minute walk to central square, quiet neighborhood, very reasonable cost for double with its own full bath. They have a web site and listed under hotels/Belgium.

We stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Jacobs a week ago. We did not know when we booked that this hotel changed ownership this year. With the new owner came much higher prices. I had read about Hotel Jacobs here and from thsoe posts and also the Belgium tourist brochure I got in the mail in May that a room for 2 would be about 1900 BF but once we got there we found it was 3700 BF which is quite a bit more. At that point we called around but couldn't easily find another hotel for 5 nights so we paid the fee but it sure hurt our budget. Spoke to the clerks there (who are friendly young people)and they said the old owners (who moved to France) charged a lot less but the new owner also bought the Ter Duien (may be mispelling that) and jacked the prices up there too.

I would like to recommend a wondeful hotel in Brugge, the Prinsenhof. We spent a few days there in late November 2000, and found it to be a very pleasant hotel, centrally located, great rooms, superior breakfast service, and friendly and helpful staff. The owners, the Lemahieu family, go out of their way to make one feel welcome. <BR> <BR>Our room was on the upper floor with a great view and had the most wonderful bathroom. Mr. Lemahieu had just refinished the room and he told us that he typically totally redoes each room at once every three years or so just to keep them current. <BR> <BR>I would not hesitate to suggest this hotel to anyone traveling to Brugge. More information is available at the following link: <BR> <BR>http://www.hotels-belgium.com/brugge/prinsenhof.htm <BR> <BR>I would also highly recommend Brugge to anyone that has not been there. It is a wonderful small city and well worth a visit. <BR> <BR> <BR>

We stayed at the Hotel Cordinear (spelling isn't correct). I believe it is recommended by Rick Steves. About 3200 +\- per night. A minute's walk from the main squares. Some stairs, though. Bath in room. Good value. Nice people. Decent breakfast (great coffee).

I just got back last week from staying at the Hotel Cordoeanier and only paid 2150 BEF per night for a single (about $50). Very well located, good breakfast included, helpful staff. My room was very simple and the decor was nothing to write home about, but it had a private bathroom with a good shower, everything was spotlessly clean, and it even had a little balcony overlooking the street (my room was #21). It did not have air conditioning (I don't know if you would need it; I didn't, but July will probably be a lot warmer). This place is not fancy -- it's very basic -- but the price and the location are great. They have a website at http://www.cordoeanier.be/testeng.htm where you can see photos, etc.

Lisa2's spelling of the hotel appears to be accurate (compared to my attempt)!

Curt, thanks for the review of the Prisenhof, I had already decided to book us into it, for our next spring trip. Your review was great!

Hi Lisa, I know that you asked for hotels but My husband and me stayed at a very nice bed & breakfast in april. The people there were really great. The last day as we were leaving very early she left sandwiches and fruits for us. Really very kind. I looked at theirs web site and a room for one person is about 1700 bfr. We really liked the room and it was just about 3 blocks from the main centre. The web site is http://www.bedandbreakfast-bruges.com/index.htm. <BR>Good luck.!! Brugge is really beatiful
