Hotels in Athens

I'm going to Greece for the first time in September and will spend 3 days in Athens. I'm looking for some hotel recomendations there. Do I need to book now?

Nino, Check other posts and also check out www.greektravel.com in case you have not done so. You did not mention your price range, but we booked 2 hotels
Attalos and Acropolis View, both of which got raves on this forum on on Matt Barrett's greektravel web site. They are C category, so if you are into luxury I don't think these are for you. We are going in October and I have already booked, but just because I like to get things all set and do research, but IMO you won't NEED to book that early and you certainly won't need to if you don't have budget constraints. Obviously we have not stayed in either of the hotels I mentioned, however I am happy to report that the staff at both hotels Particularly the Attalos has been very responsive and polite even though we had to make a couple of changes. Good Luck, and if you find out anything about fancy hotels, let me know since another couple whom we are meeting in Athens would like to spend our last night in someplace upscale.

Thanks Thyra.
I've heard about the Acropolis View and you just made up my mind. Did you pay in advance to book it?
Thanks

I stayed at the Acropolis View 2 years ago and thought it was wonderful. I booked thru Dilos Holiday World on the Internet and faxed them my Visa. Had no problems at all. Breakfast was very good, it was meats and cheeses and bread and tomatoes and cucumbers and coffee and juice. The view from the rooftop was the best in the city. You can see the light show everynight from there. Staff was nice and the front desk people speak English.

Nino, I also, had to fax them a Visa to hold the room, but it was not charged unless we cancel at the last minute. Carol, thanks for the great report, just curious, does anyone know if the Acropolis light show is still on in early October or where we could find that information, as well as theatre info?
