Hotel - Sorrento

Hope someone can help me with the name of an inexpensive hotel to stay overnight in Sorrento in October. Will be driving there from Tuscany, arriving around 6-7pm and don't really want to start from scratch looking for somewhere to stay overnight. Thanks everyone - I love this site and have had some great advice.

We stayed several years ago at the Bellevue Syrene and loved it. I don't think I'd classify it as inexpensive--more mid range. Right on the Bay--view of Versuvius, great staff and parking. We loved it and have recommended it to friends who also liked it. In both instances, (ua and friends) we got upgrades simply becuase better rooms were available. Sorrento is a lovely town, you'll have a great time.

We just returned from Sorrento and stayed at the Hotel Minerva and it too is probably mid range. It was wonderful and had a restaurant and pool looking out over the bay. Our room was large and had a huge bathroom and french doors opening out to a balcony with a Vesuvias view. Very accomadating staff and they all spoke English. Would definitley stay there if we go again!

Good afternoon. Marilyn
Have used the Hotel PLAZA, twice in the
past, was only good, it was clean but
a typical tourist hotel.
Surf into www.venere.it, search into
Sorrento and all hotels.
Also into www.italiaonweb.com/sorrento/
also have noted good reviews of the
Bellevue Syrene before on various BB's
Richard of Hickory Hills, IL....

Thank you everyone!!! Will stay at one of these hotels - feel much better arriving at night and having a recommendation from someone who has stayed there than using the guide book, mainly because if the one from the book looked a bit dubious we wouldn't feel like starting a search. So thank you. I'm finally getting everything to fall into place - how much fun is that!!!!!!

When we went a few years ago we stayed at the Villa Maria which is maybe 2 or 3 star ...

We loved it. It was unpretentious but had nice airy and light rooms, was clean and had a nice pool.

It was also a nice location on a quiet road but only 10 mins from centre and only 2 mins from the nearest bars and restaurants.

The manager was an odd bloke and the half board food was awful but we didnt eat in the hotel anyway and breakfast was OK.

Dont know price as we booked it as part of a package but I cant imagine it being very expensive...

Kavey
