Hotel Smeraldo, Albergo de Sole in Rome???

Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels in Rome? If you have could you tell me more about them. Basically are they clean, friendly service, comfortable and in a good location. I need a triple room which addds on to the cost significantly.
Thanks,
Denise

Denise,
We stayed at Albergo del Sole (76 via Biscione, not by the Pantheon; our taxi driver was confused). It's clean, comfortable, great location just off Camop dei Fiori. We (husband, son and I) had a room w/ shower which included a double bed and a twin bed. I think we paid 240000/night (this was last May).

We also stayed at the del Sole in Via Biscione some 6 years ago and would use it again (not in the summer, though ... if they still don't have a/c in the rooms). Perfect location, clean and confortable. We paid about $70 for a double at the time.
Paulo

Hi Denise,

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Smeraldo May 1998. It was a small hotel with clean and confortable rooms. Ours had a private bathroom and we paid about $85 per night. It's in a perfect location, just around the corner from Campo dei Fiori and walking distance to the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and other major sights. Once we settled into the hotel for 3 nights, we didn't use any transportation except our feet! The bus stop Largo Argentina is close by too. We took the bus from the train station when we first arrived and left. The old Jewish quarter is nearby too and Trastevere is a 15 minute walk away. This is one place I will definitely return to.
