Hotel Silvio, Hotel Belvedere or ????

Is Hotel Silvio as good as it sounds on the website? Wouldn't mind a small, cozy place. Also, I e-mailed Hotel Belvedere a month ago...no response. Is it too early for reservations for next June? Any suggestions for a hotel around $170/night in or around Bellagio. Help needed from the foderites.

We just stayed at the Belvedere in May. They were great. There are many Hotel Belvedere in the area. I hope you e-mailed the right one. we found it to be wonderful. We had a room with a patio that had a wonderful view. Don't know about the other place. The Belvedere made our reservations for The Last Supper in Milan. Their dinner suggestions were great, too. They may be a little costlier than you want.

Hope you have a good time. The area is wonderful.
Debby
Mitzi,
What city for Hotel Belvedere? Milan or Florence? We stayed at Hotel Belvedere in Florance and loved it.

We stayed at the Belvedere a few weeks ago and would recommend the hotel. It faces Lake Como and is situated on the eastern side of the lake away from the small town of Bellagio. This means the hotel is quiet as opposed to some of the other hotels in town and walking to town takes only a few minutes. They were very responsive to my emails so don't give up.

Hi Mitzi,

Just got back from the Lake Como and Lake Orta area. you can read some of my trip report. We stayed in Menaggio which is easy access to drive along the west shore. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Victoria which was a four star and so very lovely. We had a nice room with a new bath. Our view was breathtaking with a little balcony. They have large shrubbed and flowered grounds and the breakfast area overlooks the lake. Their is a pool in the back, ample parking and air conditioning. The price was E186.00, which I found to be a good rate for Lake Como. I also inquired about Belvedere, but opted for this hotel based on location (we drove around the lakes) and price. Very quiet and serene and just a 5 min. walk to the ferry which takes you to Bellagio or Varenna every 20 min. or so. The ride on the ferry is just 15 min. The town of Menaggio arranges events at night in their piazza to entertain the visitors. The staff was wonderful and very helpful, making dinner reservations and recommendations. Bellagio is also beautiful with more shopping, but you can easily go there as much as you want. I was so pleased with this hotel. Another one which is equally nice is Grand Hotel Menaggio which has a beautiful pool overlooking the lake. It was slightly more expensive. Whereever you choose you won't be disappointed. Go the Locanda Isola Comancina for dinner-it's quite an extravaganza.

Denise

Stayed a few nights in April at Silvio. Small, unpretentious with a fine kitchen. Frequented by locals for the daily fresh caught (by the owner) pan fish. I'd stay there again. Ciao.
