We stayed there for several nights in early May 2000. It is a lovely place, tucked away in a nice neighborhood. We had a large interesting room on the 2nd floor that had a group of small windows (i.e., not picture windows) overlooking the canal and directly over the small landing (so occasionally other guests were out there with drinks or for a smoke). I think the rooms vary as to window size. In one room on the first (lobby) floor we saw also overlooking the canal the window was criss-crossed with grating. That room was practially on the water! And some rooms off either side may have had larger windows over the canal. I did not see any of the non-canal rooms. There is a lovely breakfast room on upper floor with two small cafe tables outside on a small balcony which we enjoyed. Watching the comings and going on the canal was a wonderful treat from that balcony and from our windows.

We also really enjoyed being a bit away from the center (San Marco). We rode the vaporetto everywhere and walked and walked. The hotel is a few blocks from nearest vaporetto landing but has its own landing if you are splurging on water taxis. Even so, we never felt inconvenienced. In fact, our favorite restaurant, Alla Zucca, was not far from the hotel, although I could never describe how to get there for you!

Hope this helps. If you have any questions about my remarks, please let me know.

Maddy
