Hotel Recommendations for Provence
Hi, we've added three days to our vacation and plan to stop in eastern Provence, France on our way to Switzerland. We've visited western and southern Provence, so looking to visit area east of the Gran Canyon of Verdon. There are two towns we are considering. St.Andres les Alpes and Digne. If you can recommend a hotel in either or both of these towns we sure would appreciate your assistance. Once again, a big thank you to all of you who helped plan our trip to Interlaken. Thanks!

To enjoy a great scenery and be close to the Gorges du Verdon, I would recommend you to stay either in Moustiers Ste Marie, Greoux les Bains, Manosque or Sisteron. Even better is the Luberon mountain (Lourmarin) area but it is a bit further away. Just e-mail me if you want more details.

Reeturned yesterday from a wonderful trip through Provence. In the eastern area, we stayed in St. Paul de Vence. I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but this was pretty close to paradise. My wife and I stayed at Hotel Les Orangers, which has ten rooms amid an orange grove overlooking a verdant valley. A beautiful terrace right outside our door...patches of irises and calla lillies...the fragrant orange blossoms--it was all truly magical. E-mail me if you want more details; glad to help.

We also stayed in St. Paul De Vence, at the Le St. Paul in this beautiful walled city. My wife and daughter fell in love with it, as well as the shops and sites there and nearby. Was it expensive? Yes. We beleive it was worth it, plus easy access to Nice, Cannes, etc.
You can find it on the web at the Relais&Chateaux page. Further west, we also enjoyed the Auberge Du Cassagne in Avignon le Pontet. Enjoy!
