Hotel Suggestions for singe/middle-aged female/never been to Barcelona.......good location..(whatever that means)..safe......mid-range..... would like it to have some interest/history/old is good............minimum Spanish...............

What is your budget? Mid-range doesn't tell us much, but location is everything. And when are you planning this adventure in Barcelona?

Go to tripadvisor.com and search around - you can get better answers there to your vague questions than here and a lot more responses considering how many people rate their accommodations.

I've recommended The Gran Via on this forum several times. Seems to be well liked by several other Fodorites. Location wise..excellent...might be considered rather "tired" but so what...around the corner from Placa Catalunya and the Rambla. Rates today should be in the mid-range or less..it's old colonial style with a sweeping white staircase in the lobby.
