Hotel Options in Seville and Madrid

Family of five is going to Spain in April. We are choosing between Hotel 1800 and AlmaSevilla - Hotel Palacio de Villapnes in Seville, and the following three hotels in Madrid - Villa Real Madrid, Westin Palace, AC Palacio Del Retiro. What do you think?

I don't know if this helps, but I've done an exhaustive amount of research for our trip coming up in July and for those 2 cities we have chosen The Westin Palace in Madrid (we are using SPG points) and Casa 1800 in Sevilla. Both are well located and offer the level of comfort, services, and convenience we are seeking. Good luck!

The Hotel Casa 1800 does a good job, but I prefer the style of the 5-star Alma Sevilla, a former palace. The Alma is a small group (4 hotels with two more on the way) that does an excellent job. We’ve been very satisfied since we started using them three years ago.

The Westin Palace is nice, as is the Villa Real, but In Madrid, the 5-star AC Palacio del Retiro, would be my first choice. It's one of the best hotels in the city and the staff a bit more personable than at the Westin Palace and Villa Real. My second choice would be either the Hospes or Ritz.

We stayed at the Westin Palace in Madrid and the Alfonso XIII in Seville. Both were gorgeous, clean, safe, well located, etc.

The Alfonso XIII is closed for some much needed renovations. It's supposed to open for Holy Week 2012, but who knows.

You don't mention the ages of your children but the Madrid hotels are indeed gorgeous but a bit snooty and not really children orientated. The Palacio del Retiro would some child appeal because of the park across the street with rowboats on the lake.
