Hotel Maestranza or Alcantara in Seville
I am deciding between Hotel Maestranza or Hotel Alcantara in Seville for my family of four in November. Maestranza is offering a family suite while Alcantara is offering a superior double with 4 beds (sounds like they add two more bed in a double).
Any one has experience with them? Please help.

Hotels are about location, price, and amenities. In this case, location is pretty even; if anything Maestranza has a bit of an edge. I will assume the price is also about even if you are considering both (right?). So, this is about ammenities: a family of four needs space; a suite sounds better to me. Enjoy Seville in November; it will smell of oranges for miles!

Thanks Viajero2. I read some good reviews on Alcantara but none on Maestranza. I do like the suite but am concerned about the noise from the Tapas bar below.
Has anyone stayed there? Anyone, please?

Reviews of Hotel Maestranza. And as for many places in central parts of Spanish cities of some size, ask for an interior room if noise is an issue. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...Andalusia.html
Great location, the Arenal area is very nice and something quite different than the touristy Santa Cruz district five mins away. The hotel is close to some fabulous tapas bars: Enrique Becerra and Bodega Antonio Romero in the same street, and one of my absolute favourites in Sevilla, Bodegas Diaz Salazar in C/García de Vinuesa, 20. A branch of the very popular Mesón Serranito is also close, in C/ Antonia Diaz, 11.

Hotel Alcántara, in one of the extremely narrow streets in the Santa Cruz district, gets fabulous reviews.

In the same building as Casa de la Memoría, one of the best places to experience flamenco in Sevilla (Performances at 9pm every night, sometimes they run an extra at 10.30 which will be finished at about 11.30). Great up and coming talents, and quite often some of the very best in the world perform here such as Pastora Galván, Rafael Campallo, Adela Campallo, La Choni etc.

Hello Huckleberry, I stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Alcantara in Seville last January. Paid 55 euros including breakfast for a double room for single use. Received a further 10% discount for showing my Rick Steves Spain guidebook.
Breakfast included coffee, juice, toasting station with cheese and meats, cereal and fruit. I think that's a fairly typical breakfast spread for that price range in Spain.
We caught the flamenco show at Casa de la Memoria. It started at 9pm and indeed is located right in the lobby of the hotel! Very convenient! It was the only flamenco show I've seen so I can't compare to others, but I really enjoyed it. There were a couple of guitarists, a singer, and 2 dancers, one male and one female. Not sure what we paid but it was reasonable...15 euros I think. Reserve your tickets before the show, as it's a small venue with perhaps 40 people max. Pictures allowed in the last 5 minutes of the show.
'Aire de Sevilla' the Arab bath house is located nearby. It's not far, but if you get lost in the maze-like streets, it can take you a little extra time to find! After a day of sightseeing and walking, this is an excellent way to cap off your night - there are several pools of varying temperature, as well as hot tub, sauna, and also a massage room. I paid 32 euros. Note that it's very important to reserve ahead of time, as the place is quite busy.
Hotel Alcantara was very quiet and I heard no outside noise. Slept right through the night!
Cathedral is about a 5-7 minute walk.
Recommended!
Enjoy your trip!

We stayed at Hotel Alcantara this past May and loved it! we had a triple and it was spacious and very comfy. small bathroom but it was clean and had everything we needed. the staff were very warm and friendly (the man complimented me on my Spanish! ha!). and I loved their little courtyard off the lobby area where breakfast is served. it's a pretty good breakfast and cheap as I recall. oh yea, and we had free wifi in our room.

oh yes, the only noise I heard were the doves (? I think they were doves anyway) in the morning. but it was an interesting and somewhat soothing sound. no noise from any bars that might be nearby at all.
