Hotel Jardin De L'Odeon

We just returned from a trip to France and stayed two nights at the Hotel Jardin De L'Oden that was highly recommended. However,
we found it to be very unfriendly staff, poor
service for taxis, Lounge did not serve drinks, room bar poorly stocked and a total lack of concern when seeking help with questions. I realize that we do not speak french which does make things very difficult
but our last experience in staying in the 6th addirossment was delightful. The Hotel
D Bucci could not have been a better experience and the staff the best.

Well, I have no opinion re the Jardin de
L'Odeon and you may well be right that
it is not a good choice and has poor
service. But, I wonder what the point
of your post was? If it was just to bitch,
fine, you've done that. But if it was to
actually be informational for others,
you left out very relevant facts:
first, what was the price of your room?
obviously, there are different expectations
in a $100 room vs. $250. Second, who
recommended this hotel so highly? that
seem to be your main point, that it was
a bad recommendation, so if people are
not supposed to trust that person/entity, who
was it? It wasn't this Fodor's site, because
I checked their Paris hotels and that one
wasn't in there. Anyway, I can't really
relate to your complaints, except to
note that poor taxi service in an expensive
hotel is uncalled for, unless you're
exaggerating--it suggests the hotel
does not have a good relationship with
taxi services. I stay in a moderate 3-star
hotel in the Montparnass area every
time I'm in Paris (about $100/night), and
the taxi service they call for me at the
front desk always gets there within 10
minutes. But, hey, you're in the St
Germain area, you could find a bar for
a drink within walking distance of your
hotel. They may not have a big demand
for serving alcohol in their lounge for
that reason, and thus don't provide the
service. Anyway, I guess the moral of
this story is if you had a hotel you liked
so well in the same area, you should
have stayed there (the Buci).
My intent with my comments was only to
be informative. We loved the DeBucci Hotel, however the street noise was a little loud, therefore we were looking for something in the same area but quiter. Our rooms were not cheap, we were not the only upset quest. My apologizes if I seem to not utilize this forum the way you think I should.
