Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon. . .?

Any suggestions on a hotel for family with two teens in S-u-A? We're staying 2-3 nights, want to stay right in town, and don't want to spend a fortune/night. Anyone ever stay at the Shakespeare Hotel? Need to book soon, as we're going early August. Thanks!

Lynn

It really comes down to budget. You cannot get much more central than the Shakespeare (the Falcoln on the other side of the road?) but the centre of Stratford is not big so there a number within a few more feet.

I am tempted to suggest the White Swan for budget reasons. I say that without checking but I'd be surprised to learn that it was NOT a bit cheaper. It's still old, and half timbered and about 500yds further away from the theatre

Look at the city's web site "stratford-upon-avon.co.uk" which lists about every accommodation there, along with location & price. My preference for a good value is the Stratford Victoria.

Just outside of town is a nice B&B - Oxstalls. They have a nice 'family room' - a double and two twins which is pretty reasonable

Lynn, We stayed at the Shakespeare three years ago with our 18 yr old son. We had a very large room with a large bathroom. If I recall correctly there was a sofa bed in the sitting area that Nicholas slept on. It was a good location right in town so he could wander around some on his own. It was a lovely hotel and its central location was quite a plus.

Pat

Suggest you check out the Sequoia House. Great little B&B, reasonably priced, off street parking, walking distance to theatre and all of downtown, good breakfast especially for hungry teenagers. They have their own web site. You also might want to check out the official web site for Stratford-upon-Avon. It is excellent.
