There are lots of hotels in the Stazione Termini area--I don't know if this is the "Stazione Centrale" area. From the Alta Vista "Travel" page you can get to lists of hotels. One we have enjoyed (in a different part of the city, just a few blocks from the Piazza Navona) is the Hotel Marcus (**) on the Via del Clementino, 94, 0.6 km W of the Spanish Steps. It's quite inexpensive, but very nice. Their Web address is 'www.venere.it/roma/marcus/marcus.html'.

Just returned last Wed. - stayed at Hotel Pavia just next to the Baths of Diocletian, a five minute walk from Stazione Termini. Some rooms overlook the Baths, some the old National Museum cloister. Plumbing surprisingly good for Italy (I had lots of hot showers!)and breakfasts okay. Rooms clean and airy and you're close to lots of the sights and the metro is handy for the rest.

We have just returned from Italy and Turkey.. We stayed in Rome on two occasions First hotel was Patria near the station. Second was Regno which was the old Kingdom of Italy Library. Regno was closer to the attractions than Patria and was a better hotel, but by the same token, not too much wrong with Patria. Both worth considering. Denise <BR>
