Hotel in Quimper

We'll be making Quimper our base for 3 nights in that area & are looking for a hotel or nice B&B. This will be in Oct.
I understand Quimper is a fairly large town. Would it be better to stay in/near the old town or another part? Is the railroad station near the old part. It isn't necesary that we stay near there, it's only that I've seen hotels that say they're near the station.
We need to stay in a place that has an elevator or has rooms on the ground floor if possible.
Thanks.

Hello Lee,
I can't help you with a specific hotel, but I always find it is better to be as near to the centre of town as possible and I always prefer the old part of any town.
If you check with a search engine for "Tourist Information Quimper", I'm sure you'll find lots of information.
Enjoy Brittany.
Regards
Maggie.
I was traveling by car when I visited Quimper, so I can't help you re the train. It is a fair-sized town. Send an email to the French Tourist Office, maybe they can advise you. Love their dishes!!

It's been five years, but when in Quimper we stayed at Hotel Gradlon, which was a very nice and atmospheric small three star. We also were traveling by car and I really can't remember where the train station was, but we did like our hotel.

Some thoughts: it is unlikely that you will find many B&Bs that have bedrooms on the ground floor. In France the 1st floor is our second floor. You will likely have to stay at a hotel with elavators.
If you don't already have it, downlaod the best free search engine around from:
www.google.com
If you enter Quimper you will come up with more sites than you can handle.
One general site is:
www.oldquimper.com
For some hotels:
http://www.all-hotels.com/europe/fra...quimper_e1.htm

Hope to hear from others who have stayed in a hotel in Quimper. Surely someone has stayed there!
