Hotel in Paris

My husband and I are planning a trip to Paris in May...We lived in Fontainebleau several years ago...for two years ..We are going back to clelbrate our wedding anniversary..in Paris..where we spent our 1st anniversary...Our travel agent recommended the Hotel St. Gregoire on the Left Bank 6th District. Has anyone heard of the hotel or perhaps even stayed there...It is about $185.00 a night which is a good price in Paris...Hopefully someone has heard of this family owned just 30 room hotel..with garden balconies...

For pictures, maps, and general info for this hotel, check their web site:

http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h7...ntgregoire.htm

Looks very refined and well located. Good recommendation for a special ocassion. Another hotel in that area that I have heard good first hand recommendations is the Hotel Relais St. Sulpice (in the pics it looks gorgeously romantic!).

Sue, I've been to Paris many, many times and lived there for a year as well a few years ago. I thought like you that $185 for a hotel is a good price for Paris. Although I've spent a lot of time in Paris, I did not know the hotels. I always stayed at the Hotel Inter-Continental which I had no complaints against. The rate was something like $400 per night, but I got a corporate rate of $200 and thought that would be difficult to beat someplace else without a corporate rate. Well, now I am preparing to go back to Paris on a pleasure trip and I've been checking out what is available and was pleasantly surprised to learn from my internet research and from the kind people on this forum that there are many charming hotels in Paris for less than $200. In fact there are quite a few choices in the $100-$150 range with loads of charm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Hotel Gregoire. The pictures look nice and the location is also good. In fact I am going to add it to my list as I narrow down my choices. I just wanted to let you know that there are more jewels out there for less than $185 that you may want to look into. You just might find something you like just as much or better for less money. Hey, you just might find something for $135. The $50 per night saving could pay for your dinner (not your husband's, I'm afraid) or a new dress or whatever. Happy Anniversary, anyway and enjoy your trip.

Thank you for the info on hotel prices...My corporate travel agent recommended the Gregoire..she has stayed there...and recommends it quite highly. I am a bit apprehensive to just pick a hotel at random....I believe the room for $180-183...is considered superior accomodation...just one below the suite..when are you planning to go.. I will be sure to let you know how the Gregoire holds up to its recommendation. If you hear of another hotel from someone who has stayed there..please let me know.. thanks sue
