Avoid Hotel Mozart -- ultra-noisy street, tacky decor, poor service.

Re. Hotel Mozart in Brussels. Price was 3500 Belgian francs when I stayed there April 30 and 2 more nights. Hotel in in great location, close to Grand Place. Day clerk had an attitude, night clerk was fine . Our room in back overlooked an alley, with easy access for a would-be intruder, thus we kept window locked at night. No safe in room

Avoid Hotel Mozart in Brussels. Spent 1 night there last week and it was so noisy that we didn't sleep until 5am. There are 2 bars across the street which closed at 4:30am on a Wednesday. Complained to day manager, he eventually offered a 10% discount. He seemed to speak good English until I started complaining. Had to force an ashtray into doorjamb as the door could have been popped open with minimal effort.

we love the WELCOME hotel , vey small, 6 rooms, quiet, large rooms , geat restaurant, and friendly hosts. They have a website do a google search. Not expensive!

Have stayed at LeMeridian in Brussels. Very nice large rooms and perfect walking location for seeing sites. Also, it is ideal if you're arriving by train as it is directly across the street from the main train station so no public transportation is necessary. They do have their own website and 800 number.

We spent 4 days in Brussles and enjoyed them but don't plan a return anytime soon, it's not paris or London! Le Dixseptieme is a terrific hotel in Brussels; didn't check your website, so I don't know if it's on it, but it's a great hotel, very charrming and very close to the Grand Place.

The prices on the ebrusselshotels web site are good, but I don't quite buy some of their descriptions. For example, they are pushing the Bedford. That's by the Gare du Midi, which is not central to most Brussels sights and also is a very questionable neighborhood at night. I wouldn't stay there unless everthing else was fully booked...they are also pushing the Aru Siru which is on the Place Rogier. The Place Rogier is another place that's not particularly attractive and can be somewhat questionable late at night (a few weeks ago a visiting Scot was killed a block from there by people stealing his cell phone). <BR>Re, the Hotel Mozart, I did try and point out how noisy the street was a few months ago and got some very sharp private and public replies about how great it was. To each his own, but I'm not at all the enamored of staying in the Grand' Place area. Yes, the Grand' Place itself is gorgeous, but you can stay in much more peaceful and attractive neigborhoods that aren't surrounded by tourist trap shops and restaurants. <BR>At the high end, for example, there's the new Hotel Barsey Mayfair on the Avenue Louise. It's across the street from a beautiful small park, the Jardin du Roi, and one of Brussels' most upscale neighborhoods. A short walk from the Ixelles lakes or from the excellent moderately priced and virtually tourist free restaurants along the Chaussee de Waterloo (Lettre a Elise, Toucan, Aux 2 Chefs, Parachute, etc.) and La Quincaillerie (on the rue Page), a top Brussels restaurant, and Brasserie St. Georges on the corner of ch. Waterloo and Ave. Winston Churchill, a place where Belgians and expats go for seafood. More moderately priced choices are the Alfa Louise or Les Tourrelles, a charming small inn on the Ave. Winston Churchill (rooms under $100 a night). The tram stops right outside the hotel--why not look out your window at trees and local cafes rather than cheap Greek joints and hordes of tourists? <BR>From any of these places, you can easily reach the Grand Place or Sablon by mass transit with or without a short walk. And you get away from the hurly burly of the rue Neuve (absolutely mobbed on week-ends) and the tour bus squadrons. <BR>Brussels is very well served by mass transit--there's more to the city worth seeing than the Grand'Place--I swear! <BR>BTilke (Brussels)

In case you are still researching I would like to suggest the Hotel Metropole. I stayed there earlier this year and was pleased. It's older, rooms somewhat small, but nice bathrooms. Breakfast is quite nice and included in price (at least it was for us). A tram station is located in front, it has a sidewalk cafe, an elegant dining room, and is walkable to several sites. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps. <BR> <BR>PS the hotel has a web site in case you are interested.
