Hotel Cipriani - Venice

Has anyone ever stayed here? I read Fodor's review as well as some other info and it sounds like an oasis. I have received quotes for several different rooms and am willing to splurge, but I would like some feedback first. If you have stayed here, can you pass along any info.

Thanks!!

I haven't stayed at Cipriani, but I ate dinner at their restaurant on my wedding night and it was wonderful. The service was excellent too. I can also tell you that the grounds are beautiful. We took many wedding photographs there. I have also heard that Cipriani is considered one of the very best hotels in Venice (and Europe).

Kristine,
Like Daria I've only been a dinner guest, not a hotel guest, but it is lovely. I will only add that they are on an island in the lagoon, and you must take their free private launch to go to and from San Marco. It's only a 5 minute ride, but I thought I would mention it.
My wife and I spent a week there in 1959.

Our room with two meals a day cost $25.00 for the two of us.

I think its a little more expensive these days.

But if you can handle the price---todays prices---GO for it!

AH

I personally believe that the Cipriani is an extremely overated hotel, and in my opinion the people who stay there are pretentious pseuds. I have only stayed there once, it is comfortable, after all it is four star, not five as most people assume. Hotel Bauer is the better choice, five star and not so "touristy" if the Cipriani can be called that.

i've heard that hotel cipriani has some
very old & small rooms, so i'd check to
make sure you're going to get a nice room. in regards to bauer, we stayed there & would never stay there again, the employees are very stuck up & the concierge was not helpfull at all.

Check out the Conde Nast 2001 gold list. I believe they give the Gritti and the Luna Baglioni a better rating for their rooms.
