Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais - room size question . . .
I've just received confirmation that there is a room facing the front with a standard double bed at the Caron de Beaumarchais.

This hotel has gotten excellent reviews, but has anyone stayed in a front-facing room? I'd like to know if it's noisy. And is the standard double bed truly just a double bed? It's for a 10-day stay for my husband and myself.

I'm trying to decide between this and a few other hotels so any info would be helpful.
Thanks

A sandard double bed is just that, a standard double bed! Most 3*** hotels in Europe don't have kingsize or even queen we've found so we always ask for twin beds and say "twin beds, 2 beds" to be very specific. If you are used to a king (or queen) a standard double is a killer to sleep in. Sorry I don't know this hotel so I can't say anything about front facing room - in general tho, any room that faces the street in Paris will be noiser then facing a courtyard/inner area. If lack of noise is important to you specify and inside facing room.

Dear Carol,
I can't comment on the volume of street noise (although I'm sure someone here has stayed in a front room) but it's been my experience that double bed is just that - a regular old double. It's been a couple of years since I stayed at Caron de Beaumarchais, but I can't figure how, in the room we stayed in, they could get in any bigger a bed. The room was small small small. I've never stayed in a hotel room in Paris that wasn't teeny. It's a lovely hotel, though and I highly recommend it.

I posted my comments on the hotel from my stay there in May. I shared a two-twin, front room with my mom. It is a busy street, but the noise was completely shut out when the windows were closed. Our room was comfortably sized with a nice armoire to hang clothes and a (very) small dresser. The bathroom was immaculate and also was plenty roomy for two women to get ready at the same time. We stayed for 5 nights and felt very much at home. Personally, I would skip the breakfast and look up the street for the nice pastry store (delicious!) across from a good coffee shop (sorry both names escape me but only 1 block away).

This was my first trip to Paris, so I apologize for not being able to compare it to other hotels in the city.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Hi Carol,

My husband and I stayed there for 6 nights this May. We had a front room with a small balconey. The room was not noisy, except when we opened the doors. I wouldn't worry about this. The room was a little bigger than I imagined after hearing so much about the tiny rooms in Paris. The staff is helpful and like the previous person wrote head for the many pastry shops around the area for breakfast. Also, the room is decorated very well and you will truely feel like you are in Paris. The bathrooms have robes and I enjoyed the deep bath after walking so much in Paris. We are used to sleeping in a king size bed and I beleive the beds are more like our queen size beds. I do not remember this being a problem. Stay there and enjoy your trip.
