Hotel Bordanais in Paris?

It's very closed to the Tour Eiffel (a few blocks, you can see it when you emerge from the hotel door). I had planned to book at La Bourdonnais, but changed to another hotel with better reviews. As with most hotels in Paris, a lot depends on your particular room assignment. There's nothing really objectionable mentioned, just better reviews of other (less expensive) hotels in the same neighborhood. You might want to check at www.paris.org - once you find the hotel, there are reviews posted by those who've stayed there.

I haven't stayed at the hotel but I know the neighborhood having stayed in the 7th on two other occasions. Your Metro Stop is Ecole Militaire, you have the Rue Cler shopping a few blocks away. <BR> <BR>Your are literally minutes walk from Eiffel Tower, 6 minute walk to the Seine, less than 10 minutes by Metro to the Arc De Triomphe- 3 stops to Concorde where you change trains for the line running beneath the Champs Elysses, then just 3 stops to Ch. DeGaulle-Etoile. Or if you wish to go to the Louvre, change at Concorde and take the 1 train in the opposite direction just one stop to the Louvre. <BR> <BR>I am going back to the same neighborhood again,and would be interested in your review of the La Bourdonais. <BR> <BR>Michael <BR>PS: I stayed in Grand Hotel Leveque on Rue Cler, and the next time I stayed at the Hotel Valadon which is on a side street off Rue Cler, but is on a few minutes walk to your selected hotel. You will simple adore the neighborhood!

I stayed there last June and found it to be delightful. I liked the location. You are just steps away from the metro and bus (in fact for many jaunts I preferred the bus). The people who worked there could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We walked to the Eifel Tower. There is even a little grocery store right next door to buy diet coke or anything else you want.(The prices were not bad at all.) Do me a favor and go to any bakery and have a sandwich for me. You will fall in love with their breads and croissants. Despite what you hear, I found the French people to be charming and helpful. Have a great trip and enjoy the city I know I will return to someday.

A friend who has been to Paris many times and has "checked out" Hotel Bourdonnais recommended it to me. She also made reservations for her trip in September. <BR>We're going soon. Will let you how we liked it when we return. <BR>The staff has been very helpful in answering my questions, etc. via emails. <BR>We are also using their shuttle service from Charles de Gaulle airport to the hotel. <BR>Would like to hear your comments after your stay also. <BR>

Hi, Lynda. Back from Paris with report on the hotel. Delightful. My wife calls it shabby chic. It is an older hotel that shows its age under new paint--not bad but the kind of thing you look for in a true antique that tells you it really is old. Quite, tree-lined street almost on the corner at the Ecole Militaire. The Metro stop is on the next corner to your left. A Credit Lyonaise bank is on the corner with a cash machine in the lobby. No problem using it. <BR> <BR>The room was larger than our room in London, with two beds, a good sized closet, writing desk, separate toilet room and bath with sink, tub/shower, bidet and dressing table. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. Very quiet. <BR> <BR>If you reserved with breakfast included, make sure there is a hang tag in your room to order. It was in our room the first night but we had to ask for it each night after that. You can order the breakfast in your room if you don't want to go downstairs. Breakfast consists of the most wonderful croissants, a chocolate filled puff pastry and a fresh section of baguette about 9 or 10 inches long, butter, strawberry jam, orange marmelade, honey (all in commercial packages) and your choice of orange, tomato, grapefruit or pineapple juice. You can get coffee, tea, cereal (choices limited)and egg. We just did the pastries and it was wonderful. <BR> <BR>The room was air conditioned and it worked well. The lobby was very warm to our way of thinking but then again, the locals were wearing jackets while we wore only short sleeves. <BR> <BR>We twice had the desk call a taxi for us and it arrived in a very short time, although they suggest if you are leaving early in the morning to notify the desk the night before.
