Hotel between Dordogne & Nice?

We are going to be driving from Beynac to Nice with our two kids, 8 & 10. We plan to make the drive in two days, which we hope will give us time to make a couple of stops - we're thinking of stopping at Carcassonne on day one, and at Pont du Gard on day two. The issue at this point is where to spend our one night on the road. Noodling around the web hasn't helped me find many interesting choices so far, so I'm wondering if anybody has suggestions. We're thinking that it makes sense to stop somewhere between Narbonne and Montpellier. So far the most attractive choice I have found is Le Grand Hotel in Sete: http://www.legrandhotelsete.com/ We don't necessarily need a hotel as nice as that. Anyplace clean and comfortable would do, and it would be good if there was an interesting walk and something good to eat nearby.

TIA

We enjoyed our stay here last summer (traveling with 13 y/o). No pool, but the old city center of Pezenas is interesting to walk around and there are some decent restaurants. Not too far off the A9.
