Hotel advice needed a bit away from CDG airport
We are still planning the outline of our month long "where the spirit takes us" tour on the Continent by car. The 4 "60 somethings", 1 American and 1 British couple
are flying from UK into CDG and will pick up a car there. We will not be going into Paris on this trip so are looking for a charming, quiet place to spend our 1st night in France. We will only book our 1st and last nights this far ahead of time so need your advice please!
We usually look for 3*, but something clean and with ensuite "facilities" is really our only requirement. We are thinking of visiting the gardens at Versailles the next day but that is not even for sure as yet.
TIA

the airport is not exactly close to the city, some suggestions...
sofitel cdg. very nice, business-y hotel, recently revamped the mattress' and linen's they use.
or, the novotel, or mecure at cdg.
they are fine accomodations for the night.
btw...would not suggest the ibis hotel there. it's really bare bones...

Versailles is such a short distance from Paris, would it make sense to select a hotel in that area and spend your first night there? On our last trip, we picked up our rental car at CDG and drove to our first destination a couple of hours away for our first night, and were not overtired doing so.

The Chateau de Chaumontel, north of Paris, is a lovely place; it's been restored from a hunting lodge of bygone nobility, complete with moat!

I second Grandmere's suggestion of the Chaumontel. Swell place, close to CDG. Another is the Chateau d'Ermononville where Rousseau was born/lived. It's near Chantilly. Also close to CDG. CDG and both of these places are NE of Paris Versailles is W-SW of it.
