Hotel Adriano or Hotel Due Torri
Heard so much about the Hotel Due Torri that I want to book it for May, but then I heard about the Hotle Adriano which is right around the corner from Due Torri and seems nice for $40 dollars less per night. Is the Due Torri much better, worth the money? We want something romantic and nice and centrally located.

I don't know the Adriano, so can't make a comparison. We really liked the Due Torri when we stayed there in October. The rooms were nicely done, bathrooms were modern (miniscule shower), staff were friendly and knowledgable, and the breakfast buffet was abundant. We'd definitely return.

All I can say, although not having stayed at any of the two, is that the Due Torri has been often and highly recomended by many Fodorites, whereas I've never heard of the Adriano. As location, since it's close to Due Torri, shall be fine, but obviously, as far as rooms and hotel are concerned, you can't expect to get the same standards ( and a romantic and nice room) for 40 dollars less. So, the choice is yours. Up to you to take the risk and save some $$.

Regards,

S

I assume we are talking about the Hotel Adriano located in Rome. If so, I stayed there with my boyfriend two years ago. The location was fine, very close to the Parthenon and major shopping area. Walking distance to most sites. Breakfast was OK, I've had better, and the staff was not extremely helpful. It helped that I could understand Italian, when they became difficult. Regarding the rooms, these were extemely simple. We had some trouble when trying to use the our travel hair dryer. This is an old building, like many in Italy, and the breakers would trip. Consequently, we would lose the electric power in our room. If you are looking for something inexpensive and without many luxuries, stay at the Adriano. But keep in mind that service and facilities are those of a budgeted hotel. If you are looking for something more romantic, although I've never stayed there, I would follow the adviced of the other Fodor travellers and consider the Due Torri.
