This is more a question for the women - <BR>I use those Conair 1 1/2&quot; hot rollers on my hair and am wondering if there are any travel versions of those? Where would I look for such a thing?<BR>My roller set is too big to bring along and I'm worried about the voltage. <BR>Curling irons aren't an option. <BR>Please advise!<BR>

Because I have too much curly hair. Using the rollers only takes about 8-10 minutes, where if I tried to use a curling iron it would take at least 30 to do the same with unsatisfactory results. Surprisingly, I'm one of those women who can &quot;get ready to go&quot; in less than 35 mins. It's too bad really, cuz it takes my husband something like 2 hours!!<BR>Anyway, I just don't want to waste any time over there doing my hair. I'd rather make room in my luggage or buy rollers over there!<BR> <BR>

Dual voltage roller sets are fairly expensive and really don't work as well as single-voltage ones (same for hair dryers and curling irons). If you need a full sized roller set, buy one in Europe and leave it behind if it doesn't fit in your luggage (or ship it home surface). If you are going to the UK, they use different plugs than on the mainland so you would need an adaptor plug - but they are very inexpensive.

Dear Mae:<BR><BR>You will need a set of curlers that have dual voltage (so you can use it in the US and Europe on future trips, as buying a set just for non-US voltage seems like a waste of money). Many hairdryers nowadays have a dual voltage option, you just flick a switch for the right voltage. I did a very quick search on the web (&quot;dual voltage hot hollers&quot and found than Remington makes a dual voltage travel set of 10 rollers (two sizes) for about $20. I can't tell if they are the sizes you want. Go to drugstore.com. (I am home sick with a cold, so have plenty of time on my hands today....)<BR><BR>Have you checked the Conair website to see if they have a dual voltage set?<BR><BR>Hope this is helpful.<BR><BR>

Hi Mae:<BR><BR>I have the remington set that Nancy mentioned. 10 rollers, 2 different sizes. Probably an inch to 1.25 inches. It is dual voltage and doesn't even require you to hit a switch. It just does it automatically. You just need the right plug adapter. I've taken them to Australia, England, and Ireland with no problems. <BR><BR>It's a pretty compact set. I only use 5 of the rollers, so it's even more light since 5 are left at home. I know what you mean...for those days that I actually want to do my hair, it's really quick - 10 minutes or less!<BR><BR>Hope you find something that works for you.

Thanks all - I will pick some of those up. But let me make sure I've got it right. The rollers are dual voltage, but I will need a plug adapter because of the shape of the outlet?

Excellent! You pass the test, you now know the difference between an adapter (adapts the plug shape) from a converter (converts one voltage to another). Many people confuse the two. You are ready for international travel...now have fun figuring out which plugs for which country. England is different from Europe, some countries in Europe are different from each other, and Switzerland is on its own...You can often just ask the hotel to lend you one. Sometimes those traveling adapter kits don't really have all the plugs you need. Check Travelsmith on the web or do a search for plug adapters and see what you come up with. Worst comes to the worst, find a hardware or drugstore in your city of destination and buy one.<BR><BR>Now pray for no rain to spoil those curls...
