hostels-accomodation

Hey! You know how everyone says there are tons of locals waiting at the docks to give you a room when you get off the ferry? I was just curious if anyone had done this but as a solo traveller? Would it be better to book a hostel if they charge more for 1 person? thanks!

As Ira said it helps to know what country you are talking about!

But - as a general rule, always book your first night in advance and *never* accept what the touts at the port offer you. You can always take an address and go visit it the next day to see if you want to stay there.

For hostels w/o single supplements, check out the LPTT:

Hi vinyl, it is confusing but the way Fodors work is this way..when you post on the Europe Board all of the threads/post show up on the Europe Board. IF one indicates in the title of their thread (which you did not do) what country they are referring to then when others do a search they should be able to pull up all threads that have that country name or indication in the title of the thread. That doesn't always work but that is the way it is suppose to.

It is best when starting a thread to indicate where you are talking about. For example, if the title of your thread had read something like "Crotia rentals by locals at the docks?" just for example than those that have knowledge or at least some knowledge would be more inclined to answer. "Hostels-accomodations" really doesn't describe your question at all..and so you could be missing out on information that some Fodorites have knowledge of. Best regards, and hope you have a wonderful trip.
