Hi, <BR> <BR>I am traveling to England for the first time in September. I recently received written verification that one of my ancestors was christened in St. Mary the Virgin church in Sulhamstead Abbots in 1639. He emigrated to America in about 1669. His mother and father were buried at Sulhampstead Abbots. <BR> <BR>I know that Sulhampstead Abbots is located about 20(?) miles southwest of Reading in Berkshire, but have been unable to find it on maps I have of England or on the internet. I am hoping that someone who lives in England might have a good map that shows Sulhamstead Abbots. If so, I would be most appreciative if you could let me know exactly how far it is from Reading. Also ... can I take a bus there from Reading? <BR>The church was still there in 1995 .... is there any way I can find out if it is still standing? Try a good search engine, WWW.Google.com has pages of stuff on Sulhampsted Abbots

I had tried other interactive maps, but none could located Sulhampstead Abbots. <BR> <BR>Neville, thank you for your suggestion also. I did try "google" and other search engines. They did bring up pages with Sulhampstead Abbots, but most were of genealogical information, and none of the sites had a recent map. <BR> <BR>I appreciate your responses! <BR> <BR>Laura

I found Sulhamstead Abbots right away on the English website of "streetmap.co.uk"...it's just south of the M4 jct 12 near Ufton Nervet. You may find that this is the best map website there is for England. Looks to almost be within a taxi ride of Reading <BR>
