Honeymooning!!!
My Fiancee and I are trying to plan a trip this September to Italy for our honeymoon. Any suggestions for some great honeymoon spots to hit? We're thinking about traveling for 10 days. Some of the cities we've considered have been: Florence, Venice, and Rome. This will be our first trip to Europe, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Sara

I'm actually planning a honeymoon in Italy for October. I've considered Positano, which is suppose to be a wonderfully delightful spot on the Amalfi Coast. Of course for me the weather will probably be too cool for the Riveria - but if your traveling in early September it may be just right - have you considered Lake Como. Even though the Amalfi Coast and Lake Como are very intriguing, still for my first trip to Italy, I think i'm sticking with Venice, Florence and Rome (maybe a day trip here and there while in Florence). When I go back, I think i'll head for the Riveria though. Let me know what you decide. Good luck.

Sara and Michele -My husband and I traveled to Italy in September for our honeymoon 7 years ago. It was amazing. We stuck to Florence and Venice flying in and out of Milan. We loved Florence- it was romantic and interesting with many museums, churches and palaces. We stayed at the Hotel Lungarno in Florence. We were lucky enough to get the tower room. It is the only room at the top of a medieval tower complete with private balcony overlooking the Arno. Not so keen on Venice. We left Venice early and went to Switzerland. Lake Como might be nice to add if you have time. Venice was very dirty. We would have stayed in Florence longer if we had realized and taken more day trips. We didn't go to Rome becasue we were told that was really a trip in itself.

Sara,
We just went on a honeymoon to Italy last year, and it was awesome, we had 16 days. We loved Venice and Rome, and would put a back seat to Florence & Amalfi Coast, although both are beautiful, Rome was awesome. A great place to start a trip, end up in Venice, very Romantic. I've heard lots of people who visited Venice in the past (yrs back) state it was dirty, we didn't find this to be the case.
