Honeymoon in Paris - Help with hotel please!

I'll be spending the first few days of my honeymoon in Paris this August.

Can someone recommend a good place to stay along with prices if possible?

THANKS!

I didn't see any indication of what price range you were looking for...was this a Grand Tour honeymoon or something a little more modest? If it's a money-no-object situation and you've never been to Paris before/have been dreaming of some of the pedigreed hotels, then something like the Ritz (suites named after famous residents, like Proust and Chanel, not to mention the Hemingway Bar), the Crillon (can you say, palace?), or the Saint James Paris (smaller, Art Deco) might be up your alley. Places like the Hotel de l'Abbaye and Relais Christine (both on Left Bank, one was a convent, the other an abbey cloisters) are quieter but equally exclusive. If you're hoping to make a downpayment on a house after your trip, you can still find a temporary Parisian nest with some thick swanky/historical/romantic atmosphere: Caron de Beaumarchais (done up in 18th-century style), Grandes Ecoles (great garden). And don't be shy about your just-married status...the French for honeymoon is "lune de miel"! Have a great trip---

I just returned from Paris last week. I highly recommend one of the hotels the previous writer suggested: Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. It's lovely, quiet, pleasant, and you're greeted with an exuberant "Bonjour!" from the granny of the house whenever you meet her. It's easy to find, at 75 Rue de Cardinal Lemoine (Metro stops are very close), on the left back, on a map, straight down from Notre Dame. Very helpful on-site owners and staff. Reserve by fax: 1-43-25-28-15. Tel: 1-43-26-79-23. The neighborhood (off Rue St. Germaine) is full of restaurants -- and we found one we especially liked - I'll give you the name when I find it. The hotel is only 510 francs (approx) - or $91 right now. And our meals were never more than 90 francs pp, with wine. Let me know if you have any more questions. If you need any to/from the airport or train info, let me know.

I want to recommend a hotel mentioned by a previous writer -- Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. I was just there last week, and it's so pleasant. The entrance is up a garden walk, off Rue de Cardinal Lemoine (75, is the address), and it's very quiet and friendly. You'll be greeted with an exuberant "Bonjour!" by the granny of the house -- she's owned the hotel for 30 years and runs it with her daughter. They're expanding, and this summer will have two wings of rooms framing the garden. Our room with bath (shower) was 510 francs - $91! And the location is great. Lots of good, inexpensive restaurants very close by. (Under 100 francs pp - $18) There are two metro stops within a couple of blocks. Rue de Cardinal Lemoine is a short street running south from the Seine at a diagonal - near Rue St. Germaine. We walked from Gare de Lyon and found it easily. On a map, look just "below" Notre Dame, and you'll see it on the left bank. And if you need any info about getting to/from the airport or train station, let me know.
